In the Summer of 2021 the Laux family received a phone call from a friend who had a dream to plant churches. The goal was to plant a church in Rhome, Texas.
One Saturday in November 2021, both Jeremy and Haley hopped into their car, put Rhome in the GPS and began driving West. The purpose of this drive was to check out the potential location that we would be occupying. As the GPS brought the Laux's closer to the Texas Motor Speedway, Haley asked Jeremy two questions, "Have you thought of a name for this new church and what do you want to see this church look like?" Never been asked this question before, and the place holder name was at the time, "Rhome Community Church", God instantly laid John 14:6 on Jeremy's heart.
"Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'"
Jeremy shared that for some reason John 14:6 was running through his mind and asked Haley to read the chapter up to that point. It's a chapter about Jesus sharing with His disciples "The Way to the Father". Jesus was preparing them for eternal life and He makes this statement that they knew the way to where He was going and quickly the disciple Thomas asks, "We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?" And with verse six is how Jesus responds.
The moment Haley read Thomas' question Jeremy's attention turned to see how much further they were going to Rhome when he noticed the icon on his screen, a waypoint. It was in that moment Jeremy felt God say this church was going to be called "Waypoint Church" and it was going to be a church that will show others the way to a everlasting relationship with God.
On Easter weekend of 2022, Waypoint Church opened its doors and operated on Saturday evenings. But God had even more plans.
Ten months later God opened up a new opportunity for Waypoint Church and the Laux's to expand its reach. A church not far down the road was in need of a new Pastor and a new church identity and after a series of conversations Pastor Jeremy was installed on Sunday, February 26th, 2023 as the new Pastor of One Church in Justin, Texas.
On March 5th both churches blended together and temporarily relocated to Rhome while a new church facility would be built in Justin (Location).
On Palm Sunday it was announced that both churches would be moving forward as Waypoint Church.
